The San Diego chapter was formed in July of 2014 and has since been one of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society’s most active chapters, averaging between 20 and 30 days of events each year. Sea Shepherd San Diego has many dedicated volunteers who spend their weekends participating in tabling events at concert, festivals, street fairs, film screenings, and beach clean-ups. With San Diego being so close to Operation Milagro and Operation Angel de la Guarda in Mexico, we have been playing a key role supporting the crew and ships on these very important campaigns to save the endangered vaquita porpoise and totoaba bass.
Each of our volunteers brings a unique perspective and skill set to the chapter. San Diego chapter volunteers have also participated in Operation Infinite Patience, our dolphin defence campaign in Taiji, Japan, as Cove Guardians and our turtle defence campaign; Operation Jairo, in Florida, Costa Rica and Honduras. We have also had chapter volunteer’s crew aboard the MV Farley Mowat and RV Martin Sheen.
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team. If you would like to get involved, please contact us at [email protected]
